Product description

Battery-powered SureFlap microchip dog door that only lets your dog in! The door with LCD display can be installed in a wall, glass or wooden surface and can be programmed for up to 32 dogs or cats using the microchip code. A collar is not required. If your four-legged friend does not have a microchip, the door can alternatively be used with a collar tag (SureFlap tag – 1 pc included). The dog door must be set manually by entering your pet’s microchip code. The door records the code and lets your pet in as soon as it approaches. Thanks to the built-in sensor that reads your pet’s implanted microchip, strange animals cannot get into the house. A vet implants a microchip in your dog’s shoulder, which has a unique identification number. Another advantage of the product is that it can be programmed for when your pet may leave the house, so your four-legged friend is completely under your control. The SureFlap microchip dog door differs from the SureFlap Dual Scan model in that it has only 1 reader. This means that any pet can leave the house through the door, but only a microchipped dog or cat will be allowed back in.

How does the microchip work?

  • The microchip is implanted by a veterinary surgeon. The microchip has a unique identification number. This chip is implanted into the dog’s shoulder and entered into a database with the dog’s name and address. If, for example, your pet gets lost, a vet can use a suitable scanner to identify the owner.

  • SureFlap stores your dog’s chip number at the press of a button. Up to 32 different chip numbers can be recorded as required. Once you store the chip number, the SureFlap dog door will only allow your dog or cat to enter. This prevents other unwanted visitors from entering your home.

  • The microchip reader is located in the tunnel and allows the chip to be read from a greater distance (excellent range, e.g. when the chip is moving). The cat flap opens in a fraction of a second and automatically closes 1 second after the cat has passed through. SureFlap has a manual four-way lock which, when activated, stops automatic operation.

  • You can check your pet’s microchip compatibility here at the bottom of the page.

Which doors can SureFlap be installed in?

  • The SureFlap dog door can be easily installed in any door surface (wood, plastic, glass, wall). For installation in glass doors, the appropriate “adapter” accessory must be purchased. This accessory is also useful if, after removing a previous dog door, there is a larger hole in the door than you need for installing SureFlap. The door can also be fitted into double-glazed doors.

  • For metal doors, follow the installation instructions, as metal doors may reduce the reading ability of the dog door sensor. If you follow the instructions during installation, a similar problem should not occur.
